Christopher Suarez-Meyers, a six-time Emmy Award winner, serves as the senior vice president of content operations for Telemundo Deportes. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing and managing various functions within the company’s sports broadcasting operations. This includes operational planning, vendor management, production logistics, team building with external partners, compliance oversight, and direct coordination with international event organizers. His primary objective is to provide the network’s content creation teams with the necessary resources to effectively tell compelling stories that bring Telemundo’s audience closer to the most significant sports events.
Currently, Suarez-Meyers is leading the operations for major upcoming events such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia & New Zealand, the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, and is also involved in the development of Telemundo Deportes’ newest acquisition, U.S. Soccer.
As SVP of content operations, Suarez-Meyers has also undertaken the task of expanding Telemundo’s presence in other countries and creating television production environments in places where it is not traditionally found. This involves planting the Telemundo flag in new territories and establishing the necessary infrastructure for high-quality television production.
With over 30 years of experience, Suarez-Meyers has been at the helm of production operations for Telemundo’s acclaimed coverage of numerous prestigious events. These include seven Olympic Games, multiple Super Bowls, Copa America, FIFA Confederations Cup, two FIFA Men’s World Cups, and three FIFA Women’s World Cups.
Suarez-Meyers joined Telemundo in 1999 as the chief editor for Deportes and has since held various positions within the Deportes team, including production manager, director of operations, vice president, and now SVP of content operations. As one of the longest-serving members of the team, he has made significant contributions to the growth, evolution, and overall success of Telemundo Deportes. He considers these contributions to be among his most cherished professional accomplishments.
Most recently, Suarez-Meyers experienced great pride as he led the operational planning for the highly successful 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup Qatar. The tournament’s accomplishments further solidified his reputation and demonstrated his expertise in managing large-scale events.
Suarez-Meyers’ career trajectory began as a logger and progressively advanced through roles such as downlink operator, video editor, and finally video archivist. This diverse background equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the production process from various perspectives.
Suarez-Meyers holds a B.S. in communication from Florida International University, where he gained the foundational knowledge that has supported his career in the media industry. Additionally, during his teenage years, Suarez-Meyers served as an altar boy at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, highlighting his commitment to community and service.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Suarez-Meyers finds joy in his personal life. He is happily married and takes immense pride in being the father of two beautiful children, as well as caring for a beloved cat. In his free time, he indulges in cycling and nurturing his collection of rare palm trees.
